(Tech talk for the not-so-technical computer user)
Thanks for dropping by.
I created this corner of the web to provide maintenance tips & productivity tools and to discuss current tech trends for folks that rely on gadgets in their daily lives, but lack the time and inclination to conduct research on products and services available on the market to optimize your computer experience.
We use our computers as productivity and communications tools to organize our business and personal lives and to stay connected with the world. However, I encounter PCs every day that have become so slow and gunked up that they are unusable. In many cases the hardware is perfectly capable, but the machine is bogged down with spyware, adware, junkware, viruses and other malicious software that paralyze the machine. Many simply need to be tuned/cleaned up and tweaked for optimal performance.
This blog is not intended for power users. If you're looking for help building your own PC, learning a programming language or hacking into your neighbor's secured wireless router, there are plenty of websites out there that can help you (or you can check in with the teenaged gamer next door).
However, if you're looking to speed up your PC, solve an issue with a program/operating system, secure your wireless network or select a new computer that meets your performance objectives without breaking the bank you've come to the right place.
The target audience for this site ranges from the small business owner that lacks time to research security & productivity issues that affect his/her business, to Aunt Millie who wants to share photos from her recent Alaskan cruise but is confounded by her computer's poor performance.
My goal is to post a few times a week. The posts will generally fall within a half dozen key categories:
1. Productivity tools;
2. Security;
3. Networking;
4. Hardware & software troubleshooting;
5. New hardware & software;
6. Cool sites/tips/trends;
I hope you will find my discussions useful and relevant to your daily computer life. After a few weeks, you should be able to tweak your computer for better performance, determine whether it's time to upgrade or replace your machine and save some money along the way.
If you have questions/issues you would like addressed please leave comments below and I will do my best to answer.
